Explain the contrast agent so that your patient understands it.

Technical languageDas KM wird intravenös appliziert.
For your patientWir spritzen einen Farbstoff in Ihre Vene. Das geht ganz schnell.

And then for your colleague at handover: Er hat das Kontrastmittel gut vertragen, keine Reaktion. You practise putting technical terms into calm, simple words for your patient, and then passing the same information on to your colleague in a few words.

Your training

How you train with KlinikDeutsch

Talk to your patient

The virtual patient answers out loud. You speak into the microphone or type, and work through the points on the exam template: previous findings, contrast agent, allergies, pregnancy, metal.

Hand over to your colleague

In every lesson you hand the case over to your colleague using SBAR, now in technical language.

Describe the situation

You see a picture from everyday radiology work, describe it and assess it. Herr Fritz asks follow-up questions, just like in part 2b of the exam.

Write the way radiology teams write

Practise emails, requests and instructions for patients. Receive suggestions for improvement and a corrected version to compare with your text.

Examinations from your working day

14 examinations, each with all four parts of the exam

From MRI and CT to nuclear medicine and radiotherapy. Plus a terminology foundation module with 131 words to listen to and a B2 grammar workshop with 16 topics.

How to plan your learning

14 examinations, a terminology foundation module and a B2 grammar workshop

One possible study rhythm

First you listen to a conversation and collect key phrases. Then you practise yourself in the simulator. In your next session you write a text and work with the feedback. Finally, you repeat the case as an exam situation.

You learn in separate units, such as a conversation, a writing task or a review. You spread a complete case over several study sessions. Your prior knowledge and your reviews set your pace.

Your monthly price

€39 a month for the digital medical German course. You decide how long your subscription runs. The exam centre charges its exam fee separately.

Your FSP preparation

You train for your profession’s FSP in Bavaria at B2: patient conversation, professional discussion and writing. Your recognition authority (Anerkennungsstelle) confirms the language certificate for your application. Official exam information.

Questions

What MT-R ask us most often

Is this course for me if I’m still working towards B2?
With German at B2 level, you start on professional language. Until then, you learn in the digital German course A1–B2 and, if you like, with one-to-one lessons with a teacher. The trial lesson already shows you how you learn in the course.
Where is the FSP exam compulsory for MT-R?
In Bavaria, the recognition authority requires the Fachsprachprüfung for MT-R at level B2. In other federal states, your recognition authority tells you which language certificate applies to your application. You need professional language in every case: for briefing patients, for the safety check and for the handover in the team.
How does the exam work?

The exam lasts 60 minutes and mirrors a working day: first the patient, then the team, then the desk. Three parts of 20 minutes each, as set out in the sample exam of the Bayerisches Landesamt für Pflege:

Part 1 · Patient conversation · 20 minutes
You prepare a patient for the examination: what happens, how long it takes, the noises, what to watch out for, in patient language, calm and clear.

Part 2 · Conversation in the team · 20 minutes
First you hand the case over to a colleague, now in technical language (part 2a, 10 minutes). Then you get a photo from everyday work: you describe the situation, assess it and say how you respond (part 2b, 10 minutes).

Part 3 · Writing · 20 minutes
You write a professional e-mail, for example to the service technician because a device has failed: greeting, clear request, polite close.

You train exactly these three parts in every lesson, with a timer and evaluation, as often as you like.

How much time do I need each week?
You learn in separate units, such as a conversation, a writing task or a review. You spread a complete case over several study sessions. Your prior knowledge and your reviews set your pace.
Can I see the course first?
You can try the trial lesson right in your browser. It shows a short part of the course. In the complete course you practise whole cases from start to finish with conversations, writing, vocabulary and exam simulations.

Mr Müller is about to go into the MRI scanner. How do you explain the examination to him?

It’s his first MRI, and the narrow tube makes him anxious. Greet him, ask the safety questions and explain what will happen, right in your browser.
