FSP Psychology: the preparation course for the Fachsprachenprüfung.
You have mastered your field. Here you add the German to go with it.
A specialist language course that starts from psychotherapy: the disorders, the mental status examination, the case documentation and the professional conversation with colleagues. You train the three parts of the exam case by case, until they come naturally.
Book now — your classroom opens immediately after booking.
For psychological psychotherapists (PP) and child and adolescent psychotherapists (KJP) · level C1–C2
Want to check your German level? To the German test for psychologists — assessment and study plan right away.
Your situation
You know how to lead the conversation. Now it comes down to the language.
If these points sound familiar, this course was built for you.
You have been leading first sessions confidently for years, in your own language. Now you want to lead them just as confidently in German.
Your recognition procedure is under way and the Fachsprachenprüfung is coming. You want to be ready when the summons arrives.
In conversation you want to sound assured: warm and natural, as in your own practice.
You are looking for preparation that starts from your field: disorders, mental status and case presentation rather than heart attacks and the Arztbrief.
What the course does for you
Three things you will be able to do afterwards
Lead the first therapeutic session in German
Listen actively, reflect, ask gently, in language that reaches the patient.
Write the case documentation in 20 minutes
Presenting complaint, history, mental status examination, suspected diagnosis and plan, with a model answer to compare.
Present the case to a colleague
Case presentation, follow-up questions, justifying diagnosis and procedure, with precise professional language.
The exam
The Fachsprachenprüfung for psychotherapists: 60 minutes, three parts
Three parts of 20 minutes each, all on the same case. What is examined is the language: listening, speaking and writing. The professional knowledge you already bring.
Patient conversation
A simulated therapeutic conversation, oriented towards C2. You explore, listen actively, reflect and ask gently.
Case documentation on the computer
You write the documentation for the case: presenting complaint, history, mental status examination, suspected diagnosis and further plan.
Professional conversation
You present the case to a psychotherapist, answer follow-up questions and justify diagnosis and procedure.
The same exam across Germany
The Fachsprachenprüfung is a nationwide requirement for the Approbation and the Berufserlaubnis. It is held by the Psychotherapeutenkammer or the competent authority of your federal state. The structure is the same everywhere: 60 minutes, three parts of 20 — patient conversation, case documentation, professional conversation.
This course prepares you for the exam in every federal state — with the common core of all chambers and specialist German up to C2.
The difference
14 exams before the one that counts.
In every lesson you run through the full 60 minutes under timed conditions: twelve times with the lesson's case and, at the end, twice with a case you have never seen. Visible clock, each step closes as you move on, an evaluation at the end.
- Procedure, timing and transitions come naturally before you enter the exam room.
- Repeat whenever you like — the same case, led with variations, so you can see your progress.
- You decide when. The run starts on your click, when you feel ready.
- Lesson 14 is the dress rehearsal — two runs with cases you have never seen.
What you gain
On exam day you have already done it fourteen times.
You lead the patient conversation, write the documentation and present the case as often as it takes. When the exam comes, the situation is routine for you.
Speaking with no audience
You practise out loud as often as you like, at any hour: at midnight as much as on a Sunday morning.
Know right away where you stand
After every exercise you get feedback: what worked, and what to sharpen next time.
Your practice partner is always there
Your patient answers whenever you have time: you practise when it suits you.
Your voice in the exam situation
You get used to your own voice under exam conditions before it counts.
Your question is answered the moment you have it
Frau Dr. Vogel, the course's AI tutor, accompanies you through all 14 lessons: you ask about a word, a phrase, the pronunciation or a clinical topic — in German or in your language — and practise the dialogues with her on the spot.
Your goals in this course
- Take a complete history in 20 minutes, close to the patient and structured.
- Write a case documentation in 20 minutes that holds up professionally.
- Present the case to a colleague and answer follow-up questions with confidence.
- Switch between patient language and professional language without thinking.
The golden rule of the course
With the patient, their language. In documentation and professional conversation, the specialist language.
You train this switch in every lesson, in both directions.
Course content
14 lessons: the introduction, 12 disorders with ICD-10 and the dress rehearsal
Every lesson is a complete case: from the first session through the documentation to the professional conversation. That way you practise terminology, conversation skills and writing always on a concrete disorder.
First contact and conversation skills
You open the first session, explain the setting and confidentiality and apply the therapeutic stance: active listening, paraphrasing, open questions.
Depression
You lead the first history-taking session, record symptoms, course and triggers and translate “no energy left” into Antriebslosigkeit.
Anxiety and panic disorder
You explore panic attacks, physical symptoms and avoidance, and explain the vicious circle of anxiety in the patient's language.
Suicidality and crisis conversation
You address suicidality directly and safely, assess the ability to make a safety agreement, agree an emergency plan and write the crisis documentation.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
You explore obsessions and compulsions, state the suspected diagnosis with nuance and weigh differential diagnoses in the professional conversation.
Trauma and PTSD
You lead a careful trauma conversation at the patient's pace and name intrusions, flashbacks and avoidance in professional terms.
Borderline personality disorder
You explore emotion regulation, impulsivity and relationship patterns, address self-harm without judgement and describe ambivalence precisely.
Bipolar disorder
You explore manic and depressive episodes, present the course in phases and coordinate professionally with the psychiatrist.
Eating disorders (KJP)
You lead the first session with an adolescent in an age-appropriate register and the conversation with the parents, with confidentiality preserved.
Somatoform disorders
You explain the connection between body and mind in the patient's language, document briefly and precisely and write the consultation report.
Alcohol dependence
You explore consumption and dependence without judgement, build motivation for change and formulate therapy goals and methods.
Psychosis
You explore psychotic experience calmly and respectfully, report third-party accounts with distance and communicate the referral to psychiatry.
Adjustment disorder and exhaustion
You explore occupational strain and sleep, formulate with nuance and care and assess fitness for work and prognosis.
Exam simulation
The dress rehearsal: 60 minutes, three times 20 — patient conversation, case documentation, professional conversation — with two new cases.
The structure
How a lesson runs
You always know what comes next: one case leads through all three exam parts, in the same order every time. After two or three lessons the sequence runs by itself, and your attention stays on the language.
Meeting the case
Frau Dr. Vogel introduces you to the lesson's patient.
The first session
Video dialogue, then your own conversation with microphone.Part 1
Vocabulary and phrases
The terms of the disorder with ICD-10, in both registers side by side and with audio.
The documentation
Read the model, write your own, receive correction and model answer.Part 2
The professional conversation
Case presentation to colleagues, with follow-up questions.Part 3
The exam run
Everything together under timed conditions: 3 × 20 minutes with clock and evaluation.
Plus, in every lesson: exercises with answers, a module test, grammar from B2 to C1 — always learned through the therapeutic action — and a summary PDF.
