MT-R FSP: explain a handover clearly in German

2 min read · KlinikDeutsch ·

Two MT-R colleagues discuss a handover at a CT workstation

A handover connects the current situation with the next task. Your German helps another professional continue the work. Prepare both the structure of your information and the conversation that may follow your summary.

Start with an order the colleague can follow

The published Bavarian LfP example for MT-R includes a handover to a colleague. For your own practice, organise information into four points: examination, current status, relevant details and the next step. LfP Bayern: Beispielprüfung MT-R.

Use this order with a practice situation. Explain what is prepared and which coordination follows. You turn the task information into a sequence that the person receiving the handover can follow.

Connect information with action

Practise verbs that express the state of a task: vorbereiten, prüfen, abstimmen, dokumentieren, übernehmen. Make completed activities and next steps clear in your sentences.

„Es geht um die geplante Untersuchung.“
„Die Vorbereitung ist dokumentiert.“
„Als Nächstes stimmen wir den Ablauf mit dem Team ab.“
„Können Sie diesen Schritt übernehmen?“

These examples are building blocks for language practice. Add the details from your situation and describe the workflow according to departmental instructions.

Practise the colleague’s questions too

After your summary, ask a practice partner to raise a question about one point. Answer it directly and reconnect it with the workflow. This trains the conversation as well as the opening explanation.

Useful questions include „Was ist bereits vorbereitet?“, what is already prepared, and „Was soll ich als Nächstes übernehmen?“, what should I take over next. End by agreeing on the next step. You can repeat this structure with different radiography situations.
