A patient wants to climb stairs more easily. You ask about daily life, discuss their goal and explain the next step. In the professional language examination, the Fachsprachenprüfung or FSP, you show how you handle these conversations, exchange information with a colleague and write a work-related email. Here is Bavaria’s physiotherapy examination format.
Understand the time structure
The Bavarian LfP FSP lasts 60 minutes: patient conversation, professional conversation and writing take 20 minutes each. The professional conversation contains two ten-minute situations. Prepare separate practice sheets for speaking and writing. For each situation, note who you are speaking to and what you need to address through communication.
Identify the physiotherapy tasks

Ask what information the other person needs. With a patient, practise questions about daily activities and goals. In a handover, organise information for the colleague. For the email, read the request and write a connected response in complete sentences.
Turn notes into a conversation
Read a practice task, note key words and explain the situation in your own sentences. Ask someone to pose a specific follow-up question. Answer that point and continue the exchange.
