Start with a situation from your practice: ask about symptoms, explain a movement and agree on a goal. That situation can become a patient conversation, a summary for a colleague and a professional email. This connects your learning with the conversations and tasks of the physiotherapy language examination.
Choose a situation and a conversation goal
The LfP recommends B2 communication, working with the profession-specific official example and practising conversations and written tasks. LfP Bayern: FAQ Fachsprachenprüfung.
Select a situation from a practice, clinic or rehabilitation setting. Decide what your conversation should achieve: for example, asking about a daily activity and summarising the patient’s goal. Prepare five relevant questions and practise them aloud.
Explain the situation to the patient and the team
First use words the patient can connect with everyday life: movement, activity and goals. Then summarise the task information for a colleague. This change trains patient-facing language and professional terminology within the same session.
„Was möchten Sie im Alltag wieder leichter tun können?“
„Die Patientin beschreibt Beschwerden beim Treppensteigen.“
„Als Ziel wurde eine bessere Bewältigung dieser Alltagssituation vereinbart.“
Use fictional or fully anonymised information. Ask a partner to pose a question about one detail. Answer that point and connect your response with the purpose of the conversation.
Include writing and specific feedback
Write a professional email for a practice task: purpose, requested information, next step and closing. Check that the answer addresses each point of the request. Then read it aloud to identify sentences you can express more clearly.
At the end, record one strength and one specific improvement. Repeat the situation with another question. You build a flexible set of phrases through practice. The physiotherapy German course lets you continue practising conversations and writing through the course tasks.
